Trivia

Anthony Minghella

He was the chairman of the British Film Institute.

He vocally supported 'I Know I'm Not Alone', a film of musician Michael Franti's peacemaking excursions into Iraq, Palestine and Israel.

The pier in the location of his first film (that never saw the light of day) was chosen because it’s where his father proposed to his mother.

Minghella started his creative writing penning songs. He saw his early plays as a format for music.

He was in a couple of bands: Earthlight and Dancer. On keyboards, Minghella went into Olympic Studios in Barnes and recorded Dancer’s unreleased Tales of the Riverbank.

Minghella directed and wrote the screenplay for 'The English Patient' - it won nine Oscars.
