Trivia

Born Barry Alan Pincus at 9:00am at the Beth Moses Hospital, New York.
There is some controversy surrounding his age. Most official biographies state he was born in 1946, but there are others claiming it was in 1943. Linked to this, is the belief that Manilow was told to take three years off his age (making him 29, instead of 32), by Arista Records, in the 1970s.
He is 5’ 8’’ (1.73m) tall.
Accompanied Bette Midler (before she found fame) on her tour of New York City’s gay bathhouses, in 1971.
Best known for his hit singles 'Mandy' (1974), 'I Write the Songs' (1975), and 'Copacabana (At the Copa)' (1978). Curiously, 'I Write the Songs' was not written by Manilow himself, but by Beach Boys sideman, Bruce Johnston (about Brian Wilson).
“Most probably he’s the showman of our generation” (a quote from Rolling Stone magazine, 20 years ago, which is still used in his publicity today).
