Cesar Romero Biography

He's best known as Batman's archenemy, The Joker, in the 1960s TV series, but he danced and acted his way through a 60 year career in films like Viva Cisco Kid and My Lucky Star.
Cesar's first steps of his seventy-four year long career were as a dancer. He was an accomplished mover, earning him his first break in the movies.
Early screen performances were in 'The Devil Is A Woman' and 'Frontier Marshall'. In the 1940's his was a useful addition to the budding musical genre, in which he was able to shine as a dancer, as well as develop his acting skills. Arguably his best acting is to be seen in the 1947 'Captain From Castile'.
The changes that came about in film-making in the 1950's coincided with a difficult period in Romero's career. He found it difficult to re-acclimatize and complained of being type-cast in the 'Latin lover' mould.
He had a role as a gangster in the stylish 'Ocean's Eleven' of 1960, and was increasingly getting parts in television drama.
He played the Joker in the television series 'Batman', famously refusing to remove his moustache for the part. He also appeared in the big screen version of 1966.
From this time on he was rarely absent from the American small screen, in made for television films and mini series. In 1985 he appeared in the series 'Falcon Crest', as the love interest of one of the main characters.
He worked presenting classic films on cable television until his death in 1994.
