- Was once engaged to Demi Moore.

- Former brother-in-law of actress Denise Richards.

- Was first choice to play John Bender in "The Breakfast Club" (1985) but when there was no one else available to play athletic Andrew Clark, Emilio took the part.

- In the final showdown at the end of "Young Guns" (1988), Estevez shoots Charlie Crawford which is the name of the character played by Estevez's brother Charlie in the hit TV series Spin City.

- Estevez was married in 1992 to pop singer Paul Abdul. They divorced two years later.

- In a fight sequence in "Hot Shots! Part Deux" (1993), Estevez's brother Charlie Sheen's character in the movie belts out the line: "I learned this one from Paula Abdul.'' At the time of film's release Abdul and Estevez were still married.

- Dated Mimi Rogers in the 1980s and served as the best man when Roger's married Tom Cruise,

- Seized by writer's block while writing the script for "Bobby" (2006), Estevez hit the road for a change of scenery and ended up 300 km outside of Los Angeles at a randomly chosen motel. It turned out that the hotel clerk was in the ballroom the night Robert Kennedy was shot.
