Henry Hill Biography

Henry Hill was born in 1941 and grew up in the Brooklyn area dominated by Lucchese Crime Family capo, Paul Vario. Henry was fascinated by the gangsters and mafiosi and, from the moment he saw them, wanted to become like them.
However, Henry could not become a fully-fledged Mafia member, because he was only half Italian. However, he became a close associate and friend of Paul Vario and his associates. In his teenage years Henry would run errands, and eventually moved into more serious crime like truck hijacking.
Henry married a girl named Karen, and they had two children. However, Henry lived up to his gangster image having a number of affairs, drinking and playing cards.
After beating up a non paying gambler who's sister worked for the FBI, Henry was sentenced to ten years in jail. Prison guards were paid off in order to make the time a little easier for the Mafiosi and associates, and Henry also made useful contacts in the narcotics trade.
After his release, Henry began shifting large amounts of cocaine from Brooklyn to Pittsburgh, even though Paul Vario vehemently forbid any of his crew from dealing in the junk trade. But Henry began to use his own product and became sloppy. He was busted and the whole chain, including his contacts in Pittsburgh, were raided at the same time.
Henry would have been killed if he had turned to Vario, and life on the run with children would have been impossible, so Henry Hill became a government witness. He turned Paul Vario in, and his testimony was highly valued by the FBI.
Most of Henry's old associates are dead or in prison, but he has written an autobiography, and tells his story on talk shows.
