James Blunt Biography

On music in general:
“Music is really important. It takes us away from just being animals – it is art. I think that it is a real asset to being a human on the first place. I played in Kosovo about eighteen months ago to some Serbs and Albanians – all in one room. Previously, their families had just been murdering each other. But, for an hour and a half, they sat in a room and were united; it didn’t matter what sex, race or religion they were. I think music is an amazing connecter because it brings people together.”

On the media interest in him and his life:
“I’ve never read tabloid magazines, but I think it’s a pretty unhealthy practice. You and I are not dogs sniffing each other, I’m not interested in your private life, nor should I be, and nor should you be in mine. We’re hopefully intelligent human beings, who can talk about, discuss and maybe even achieve much greater things than learning about who you’re shagging.”

On his family:
“They've been really supportive. They're my number one fans and in fact my mother's my first stalker.”

On his life in Ibiza (Blunt owns a house there):
“We’d have dinner at midnight, and I’d be thinking about going to a bar at 2 in the morning. And then we’d think about hitting a club between 3:30 and 4, and the club would close at 8. I’d come back at 9 in the morning and I’d write songs.”

On ‘All The Lost Souls’:
“The person who has to live with this album is me. It doesn’t matter how far up the charts it gets. It doesn’t matter if it sells. I really like it.”
