- She turned down the female lead in "King Kong" - a role eventually played by Fay Wray.
- Her first feature film "Hell's Angels" (1930) contains an eight-minute technicolour sequence - the only colour footage of her that exists.
- Harlow was the first actress to appear on the cover of "Life" magazine in May 1937.
- She always wore her 'lucky' anklet around her left ankle, even whilst filming, and couldn't leave her dressing room without one last look in her 'lucky' mirror.
- When it came out that 'Jean Harlow' wasn't the name she was born with, the studio added an 'i' to her real name. They felt that 'Harlean Carpentier' sounded more foreign and romantic.
- She was Godmother to the famous gangster Bugsy Siegal's daughter, Millicent.
