Morgan Freeman Biography

- So far, he has only played the same character twice: Dr Alex Cross in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider, God in Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty. However he is working on his third character reprisal, giving the role as Lucius Fox in the newest Batman franchise a second airing.

- Freeman worked as a mechanic in the US Air Force and later considered joining the Air Force to become a fighter pilot but opted to stay with acting instead. He does own a private pilot’s license.

- He loves boating and owns a boat which is berthed in the Caribbean. A busy schedule means he can only take it sailing once a year.

- He is the only African-American actor to appear in three Best Picture Oscar Winners: Driving Miss Daisy (1989), Unforgiven (1992) and Million Dollar Baby (2004).

- He has starred in two movies based on Stephen King books: The Shawshank Redemption and Dreamcatcher.

- Evan Almighty was the most expensive comedy made, costing $174m (US) but was termed a box office and critical flop.
