- Height: 6’ 1” (1.85m)
- As a very young boy he fell through the rusted roof of a coal shed in his back yard, tearing both his legs open. He has the scars to this day.
- Is a lifelong Conservative and publicly supported the British Conservative Party in the 2001 General Election.
- First wife, Doorn van Steyn, advised him to get out of acting because he had no chance of getting anywhere in the profession. Her reason being that his face was too weak, his chin too big and his mouth too small. He obviously ignored her advice.
- ‘The Saint’, in which Moore starred as Simon Templar, ran for 118 episodes over seven years. This made it (along with ‘The Avengers’) the longest running British television series of its kind.
- Was paid £1 million for one series of ‘The Persuaders!’ (1972), making him the highest paid television actor in the world at that time.
- Speaks fluent Italian, which he learned whilst married to his third wife, Luisa Mattioli.
- Was the 8 millionth passenger on Air France in May 1964.
- Given an unlimited supply of Montecristo cigars during filming, as part of his Bond contract, which usually amounted to thousands of Pounds.
- His favourite Bond film is ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ (1977).
- Lois Maxwell, who played Miss Moneypenny in the Bond films, is a good friend and they met in the mid 1940s at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
- Used to steal towels from hotels but stopped doing so when he was ‘outed’ by a British newspaper in a story ‘Roger Moore is a towel thief’. He still has his collection at his home in Switzerland, a fact he revealed on British television show ‘So Graham Norton’ in 1998.
- Despite it being James Bond’s favourite tipple, Moore has never ordered a vodka martini shaken, not stirred.
- Counts the Danish Royal family amongst his close friends.
- Admitted to being molested as a child at a Swedish conference on child abuse. He delayed telling his mother about it until he was 16 because he was ashamed.
- Daughter Deborah Moore played the airhostess in Bond movie ‘Die Another Day’ (2002).
- Went to Iceland in November 2005 as part of a UNICEF programme to educate children in Africa.
- Participated in a celebrity edition of ‘Blind Date’ on The Prince’s Trust 30th Birthday Live’ (2006) (TV). Moore and Richard E. Grant lost to Chico Slimani of ‘The X Factor’ (2004), who won a date with Dame Edna Everage.
