Janet Jackson is used to getting attention - with her steamy videos, risqué album covers and racy lyrics, she has titillated audiences for years. So who would have thought that audiences would be surprised and shocked by one quick breast reveal during the Super Bowl half-time show? Now, she faces a new kind of music- controversy and suspicion. Janet Jackson grew up in a controlling household, and in the shadow of her famous Jackson brothers, to become a teen sitcom star and eventually the princess of pop. Fans were amazed by her metamorphosis from chubby teen, to voluptuous woman, to buff performer with six-pack abs.

Spanning two decades, from her Grammy-award winning 'Control', to her chart-topping 'Rhythm Nation' and 'Velvet Rope' albums, Janet Jackson has sold 50 million albums, and has become one of the world's most ambitious and respected pop stars.

Janet signed an $80 million record deal with Virgin Records, making her the music industry's highest paid female performer.

Janet and Rene kept their marriage a secret from the public for nine years, until their divorce in 2000. In December 2000, he sued her for more than $10 million for uncredited work on her albums. He eventually dropped the suit.

Janet received an Oscar nomination in 1994 for the song 'Again' from the film Poetic Justice
