Jane Fonda filmography
[h3]The daughter of acting legend, Henry Fonda, Jane was born and raised in New York City. [/h3]
After studying art at Vassar College, she turned to modelling and studying acting. Following her first lucky break in the film ‘Tall Story’ in 1960, her career took off.
Subsequent films included ‘Cat Ballou’, ‘Barefoot in the Park’ and ‘La Ronde’, the latter helping to establish Fonda as a sex siren – a persona that grew with the sci-fi cult classic ‘Barbarella’ in 1968.
She rounded off the sixties with another classic, set in the depression, 'They Shoot Horses, Don't They?’
While her career was sky-rocketing, her political views were attracting more and more attention. Famed for her anti-Vietnam War stance, she was dubbed ‘Hanoi Jane’, following her visit to the North Vietnamese capital where she was photographed with an anti-aircraft battery.
She continues to be politically active today and has argued that the military campaign in Iraq will turn people all over the world against America. In July 2005, Fonda said that some of the war veterans she had met while on her book tour had urged her to speak out against the Iraq War.
The 1970s saw Fonda tackle more diverse roles and she picked up her first Oscar for her role as a jaded prostitute, in ‘Klute’ and another for ‘Coming Home’ in 1978. Not wishing to neglect her comedic talents, she went on to star alongside [urlnew=http://www.thebiographychannel.co.uk/biography_home/1751:0/Dolly_Parton.htm]Dolly Parton [/urlnew]and Lily Tomlin, in the camp office comedy, ‘Nine to Five’.

When not making her hugely popular exercise videos in the 1980s, she appeared in blockbusters ‘On Golden Pond’, ‘Agnes of God’ and 'Stanley and Iris'.
Having taken a lengthy break from films, her most recent project is ‘Monster-in-Law’, with [urlnew=http://www.thebiographychannel.co.uk/biography_home/728:0/Jennifer_Lynn_Lopez.htm]Jennifer Lopez[/urlnew].
Jane has been married and divorced three times - to director Roger Vadim, politician Tom Hayden and media mogul Ted Turner.
