John Fashanu admits feeling guilt over his treatment of gay brother Justin, who committed suicide in 1998. Now John hopes for solace by revisiting the Norfolk home he once shared with Justin.
John and Justin spent their childhood living with adopted parents Alfred and Betty Jackson, in Shropham near Norwich.
Their home, Flint House, was set in large grounds – ideal for two very sporty boys. This house was where the brothers were closest, because once their football careers took off at Norwich City, they began to go their separate ways.
Then, when Justin came out as gay in 1990, their relationship broke down completely. When Justin committed suicide in 1998, the brothers had still not resolved their difference.
Now, by revisiting Flint House after twenty-five years absence, John hopes to make some amends and find happier memories of his time with Justin. Going Home: John Fashanu biography
