Starring Gregory Peck and Lee Remick, The Omen, originally entitled The Birthmark, began filming on location in London on October 12, 1975. As cast and crew gathered to start the shoot a series of peculiar incidents occurred, including a plane carrying cast and crew members being struck by lightning. Collectively these incidents were dubbed the "Omen Curse" by Fox’s publicity unit, which put forth a $2.8 million ad campaign behind the $2.5 million production. The Omen opened to widespread acclaim and became the highest grossing picture in the history of Twentieth Century Fox studios at that time and a pop-culture phenomenon.
