Snow Patrol filmography
Snow Patrol are a Grammy Award-nominated rock band who formed in Scotland, with the majority of their members being from Bangor and Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The bandmembers include Gary Lightbody (lead vocals, guitar), Paul Wilson (bass guitar), Jonny Quinn (drums, percussion), Nathan Connolly (guitar) and Tom Simpson (keyboards).

Originally formed in late 1994 as "Shrug" by students Gary Lightbody and Mark McClelland at Dundee University, the band started by performing gigs at the university and surrounding pubs before changing their name to Polar Bear.

By 1997, they became Snow Patrol and were eventually joined by Quinn and Connolly. Paul Wilson replaced McClelland in 2005 after the founder member decided to quit the band, with Simpson (who was a long-term tour player) being made a permanent member.

They are currently based in Glasgow and are signed to Polydor Records. Originally formed as an indie rock band, Snow Patrol has sought a more alternative rock sound in recent years on the heels of mainstream success with the songs "Run", "Chasing Cars" and more recently, "Signal Fire" from the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack.

When Snow Patrols single ‘Run’ entered the UK Top five in January 2004, it’s probably fair to say that nobody was more surprised than the band’s singer and main song writer Gary Lightbody.

Since then his surprise has if anything increased as he has watched the album Final Straw go on to sell two million copies in the UK alone and pick up a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize.

An opening slot on U2's Vertigo Tour of Europe followed in summer 2005. The band's fourth album, the epic Eyes Wide Open arrived in May 2006 and went onto to not only reach the top of the charts but to become the UK’ best selling album of that year.

As if that wasn’t enough the single Chasing Cars went top 5 in the US largely due to its use in the finale episode of the hit TV show Greys Anatomy and earned the band a Grammy nomination no less.

Sold out tours of the UK, Europe and America have all been completed to great acclaim, and Eyes Open is the band’s most successful record to date in the UK, America and all around the world. In fact it became the UK's best-selling album of 2006.

In July 2006, the band appeared on the final programme of the long-running BBC music show Top of the Pops, performing "Chasing Cars". They were the last act to ever appear on the show.
