Along with her best friend Liz, Brandi Hicks was abducted by a man they picked up at a video store. The man killed Liz and showed Brandi the body before driving her to a deserted railway yard where he sexually assaulted and tried to kill her.

Joseph Rangel, his friend Lorenzo and their guide ran out of fuel while fishing off the coast of Baja California. They were stranded on a deserted island for thirteen days, during which time they made several attempts to escape. Lorenzo succumbed to exhaustion and dehydration a day before they were rescued.

Sam and Suzanne Peebles inadvertently picked up a wanted murderer on the roadside in Arkansas, who forced them to drive several hundred miles at gunpoint. Convinced the man was going to kill them, Sam took matters into his own hands and confronted the killer with a pistol they had hidden the car.
