After Maria fired an employee, the former employee burst into her office with a gun, shot her multiple times and held her and a colleague hostage for 45 hours.

Before being captured, he shot Maria twice more and killed her colleague. Jerry swerved to avoid a deer in his car and crashed over an embankment. A tree branch became lodged in his throat and he was forced to cut it out with a hunting knife.

Melissa was sleeping in her house with her two-year-old daughter, when she was woken by an armed intruder. The man slashed and sexually assaulted her before dragging her out to her car and bundling her in the trunk.
