A half-hour true crime series chronicling the lives of female criminals and what made them snap. These shocking but true stories turn the expectations about crime and criminals upside down.

The stories begin in ordinary cities, towns and suburbs with women who have normal lives and dreams. What pushes these seemingly ordinary women to become evil?

In May 2004, pretty, 32-year-old registered nurse Melanie McGuire told friends that her husband of five years had walked out on her and their two young sons. Days after his disappearance, William’s dismembered body washed up on the shore of Virginia Beach in three matching suitcases.

Police searched the McGuire’s home for clues to William’s murder, and found some interesting internet searches had been conducted on the family computer, including “undetectable poisons,” “how to purchase an illegal weapon,” and “how to commit a murder.” Investigators also learned that Melanie had recently bought a .38-caliber gun and bullets – the same caliber used to kill William.

In 2004, Melanie was indicted for murder and freed on bail. But, while prosecutors were preparing for her trial, she was taken back into custody and charged with hindering prosecution, evidence tampering and filing false reports.

This time, prosecutors claim Melanie had, among other things, sent an anonymous package to the attorney general containing William’s wedding ring, keys to his car and a letter detailing ways to “set up Melanie.” She continues to claim she is innocent and that she's being framed.
