Fatboy Slim is the most recent alias of the musician, producer and DJ, Norman Cook.

Cook started his career in the eighties as a guitarist in the successful, socialist pop group 'The Housemartins'. After this group disbanded Cook got more involved in DJ-ing and making dance music.

His first foray on the charts outside 'The Housemartins' was under the name 'Beats International', with a dub version of 'Just Be Good To Me' in the early 90's.

Other outings into the charts include tracks under the aliases 'Pizzaman', 'Freakpower' and 'Fried Funk Food'. He has strangely entered the record books as the individual to have the most chart hits under different names.

He has achieved the most enduring success and fame whilst using the name 'Fatboy Slim'. It is this title that he used while he was becoming an increasing popular club DJ. With the support of a loyal following of clubbers in his home town, Brighton, he developed his own style of dance music for a while known as 'big beat'. The name came from the club 'The Big Beat Boutique'.

As Fatboy Slim, his first album was 'Better Living Through Chemistry', in 1997. His second album 'You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby', proved that his work now had popular appeal. He achieved chart hits with 'Gangster Tripping' and 'The Rockerfeller Skank'. His first number one was with 'Praise You', and afforded the Fatboy superstar DJ status.

His 2002 album, 'Half Way Between The Gutter And The Stars', was a more muted success than his previous album, having more of a house music influence and less pop appeal.

As well as dj-ing and producing, he has also been responsible for some notable remixes, including the track 'Brimful Of Asha', by 'Cornershop'.
