David Seaman filmography

David Seaman began his career as an apprentice with his childhood club, Leeds United, before spells with Peterborough United and Birmingham City.
George Graham and Arsenal signed Seaman from Queen’s Park Rangers in 1990.
Seaman's commanding presence and organisational skills became vital to Arsenals’ legendary defensive discipline.

At Arsenal, David Seaman acquired much success including three championship medals, four FA cup medals, one League Cup winner’s medal and a European cup winners' cup medal.

David Seaman made his England debut in November 1988, against Saudi Arabia, but had to compete for the place, mainly with Peter Shilton and Chris Woods.

However, it didn’t take long before he became a regular under Terry Venables, Glenn Hoddle, Kevin Keegan and Sven Goran Eriksson.

Seaman has over 60 caps for England, and is still regarded as one of the best England goalkeepers to date.

His last game for Arsenal was May's FA Cup final when Arsene Wenger's side beat Southampton 1-0 with Seaman - captain for the day - making a stunning save in the match's closing stages.

Rotherham born David Seaman joined Manchester City, aged forty, in the summer of 2003, under ex-England coach Kevin Keegan.

He signed a one-year deal with the club, after having spent 13 years at Arsenal.
The goalkeeper won the last of his 75 international caps against Macedonia back in October 2002.

After 23 years as a professional footballer, 26 appearances at Manchester City and 564 appearances at Arsenal the goalkeeping legend decided to hang up his gloves.

The decision came down to two factors; the first being a reoccurring shoulder and back problem that almost led him to miss the 2002 World Cup, the second reason for his departure was the signing by Keegan of David James from West Ham.

Seaman advised Keegan on the transfer, as James was successor to Seaman’s England goalkeeping legacy.

David Seaman played over 1,000 club and international matches and was awarded an MBE in 1996; this was the year he emerged as a hero for his penalty saves - most notably against Scotland and then Spain, in a memorable shoot-out during the European Championship.

So what next for one of the most recognized, adored and respected footballers of his generation?

Well, a television career looks likely, with various forthcoming sponsorship and endorsement deals, as well as being the new regular panellist on the hit sports quiz show 'They Think It's All Over', alongside other English sporting icons such as Gary Linekar and crickets' David Gower and Phil Tuffnell.
