born:
16-01-1974
birth place:
Addiscombe, Croyden, UK
The London Metropolitan Police made a request on 5 January 2006 for Moss to return to the UK for questioning regarding the cocaine incident. On 31 January 2006, with her solicitor present, she was questioned by the police but admitted nothing. She was not arrested, as photographs of alleged drug taking are not admissible evidence in British courts. The police finally dropped the charges, due to lack of evidence, on 16 June 2006. The Daily Mirror apologised and paid substantial financial damages to Moss for the libel case she made against them and won. The case was finally closed and offers of work began swiftly to return, led by Virgin.
Fred Vermorel’s book “Addicted to love: Kate Moss” was released on 31 March 2006. The Tabloids were having a field day, with “Cocaine Kate” still being a hot news item. In March 2006, it was reported in Female First, a women’s lifestyle magazine, that she had adopted Buddhism during her time in rehab. British Grazia magazine reported that Moss is contemplating volunteer and charity work in order to achieve good karma. In May 2006, The Daily Mail reported her as leaving her home wearing large sunglasses in order to cover a bruise on her cheek after on/off boyfriend Doherty had visited for a shower the previous evening.
Camera giant, Nikon signed Moss as the face of their new Coolpix S6 digital camera in April 2006. In the advert, she has little else on other than the camera. In May 2006 she was named #24 in Maxim magazine’s annual ‘Hot 100’ issue. Due for release on British television on Christmas Eve 2006, is the brand new Moss/Virgin Mobile advert campaign. There are rumours that, wanting to set the record straight once and for all, she has decided to write and publish her autobiography. It is believed that she has already signed a $1.8 million deal with Sir Richard Branson for rights to the autobiography.
In a career that has spanned more than a decade, Moss, now in her 30s, is still modelling, is a sought after guest at celebrity functions and is still considered youthful and beautiful. Her current contracts include Virgin Mobile, Rimmel, Dior, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Longchamp, David Yurman, Bvlgari and Nikon. There is even talk that both Chanel and Burberry will soon welcome her back.
She has a consummate ease with herself, and the clothes she wears and her style is regularly imitated, often sparking off fashion trends. There has been talk that Moss may soon go into designing clothes for her own label, which is sure to be a huge success. She is an amazing mix of rock chick, doting mother and fashion icon, and at a mere 32 years-of-age, is truly a legend in her own time.
