Queen Latifah was born Dana Elaine Owens to police officer Lancelot Owens and high school art teacher Rita. At the age of eight, her parents divorced and her Muslim cousin chose the name Latifah for her, which is Arabic for ‘delicate and sensitive’. View the Queen Latifah Biography
