Festival Fever

Global Gathering (Long Marsden Airfield, nr Stratford-upon-Avon)
25-26th July

For the ravers out there, do not fear, Global Gathering is here. It is officially the biggest dance festival in England this summer with headliners including Eric Prydz, Moby, 2 Many DJ’s Scratch Perverts, Fedde Le Grand, to name but a few. Many of the headliners have not been announced yet, so it can only get better. Take your baked beans and florescent clothes and join the party.

Reading Festival (Reading)
22-24th August

The little brother to Glastonbury, who this year kicked its older sibling out of bed to gain the title of most popular festival in Britain, has one of the biggest line ups ever seen. Rage Against the Machine is Biography’s personal must see, but with the likes of Bloc Party, My Bloody Valentine, Metallica and many other playing, it was certainly not easy to choose.

Bestival (Robyn Hill Country Park, Isle of Wight)
5-7th September

With its ingenious title comes a festival so packed with wackiness and oddity that it is defiantly another Big One. Situated on the Isle of White, Bestival includes one of Biography’s favourite artists, Amy Winehouse, who, if not completely intoxicated will produce something truly special. Grab a surf board and get yourself down there because it looks like it is going to be ace.

Big Beach Boutique (Brighton)
27th September

Arguably not a festival, but nevertheless just as good. This is Fat Boy Slim's fourth legendary concert in Brighton. The last occasion was a free gig in 2002 on Brighton’s beach front where an estimated 250,000 revellers crowded onto the strip of sand. This year sadly is not free, but if it compares at all to the last time, it will be one hell of a party.

Field Day (Victoria Park, London)
9th August

If you’re a lazy broke Londoner this is the festival for you. With tickets going at £26.50, this is the cheapest of the listed festivals. Critics accuse Field Day of having a pretentious air to it, but if you’re an arty East End type, this will definitely float your boat. With the highly acclaimed Les Savy Fav and the quirky up-and-coming Dan Deacon playing, the schedule is looking pretty sweet. Biography tips this to be the hidden gem of the summer.
