The Hugh Jackman biography makes its UK premiere as BIO dedicates Super Heroes Sunday on 27th July to Hollywood's caped and costumed super heroes.
We launch the evening with a look at the beloved Australian movie star.
Hugh Jackman reached international fame as the feral mutant Wolverine in the successful X-Men movie franchise, but also has an extensive history on stage and major Australian television shows such as Law of the Land. Jackman’s first international break came on stage in London’s prestigious West End when he starred as Curly in Oklahoma.
In 2000, a year after appearing in the film version of Oklahoma, Jackman was cast as Wolverine, the troubled yet sensitive canine man hybrid in the cult X-Men franchise. Jackman himself became a cult star following the film’s box office success. Wolverine’s follow up appearances in 'X-Men: United' and 'X-Men: The Last Stand' cemented his place on the Hollywood A-list and launched his talents as an action icon.
After further establishing himself on the Hollywood scene in serious films including 'The Prestige', Jackman demonstrated his ambition to take things to the next level with his producer role in the upcoming 'X-Men Originals: Wolverine' as well as lending his voice to family favourites 'Happy Feet' and 'Flushed Away'.
