Johnny Depp receives two Golden Globe nominations

American actor Johnny Depp has received two Golden Globe nominations for his memorable performances in Tim Burton's summer blockbuster Alice in Wonderland and his latest film, The Tourist.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star stands to get even more recognition as both of these movies are competing for the Best Comedy or Musical Film gong, alongside Burlesque, The Kids Are All Right and Red.
Welcoming the honour, Depp said: "One nomination would of course be a great honour, but two, is simply astonishing. I am floored, truly, by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's kindness and generosity.
"I wish to thank them dearly, as well as all those many wonderful souls who made the films in question possible. My deepest gratitude and respect goes out to you all."
Natalie Portman, James Franco and Colin Firth have also been nominated for their roles in Black Swan, 127 Hours and The King's Speech, where they play a delusional ballerina, a self-amputee adventurer and a stuttering future King of England respectively.
