Prince Charles and Camilla run into London protestors

Prince Charles

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall came under attack yesterday (December 8th) when the royal car they were travelling in came under attack from demonstrators.

Prince Charles and Camilla, who were being driven in their Rolls Royce to the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium, ran into the demonstrators who kicked, rocked and hit the vehicle with paint bombs.

The student protesters were on the streets in opposition to the government's plans to raise university tuition fees when they came upon the car, which was damaged following the encounter.

Pictures showed the shock on Charles and Camilla's faces as the demonstrators surrounded the 1977 Rolls Royce Phantom VI, but the 62-year-old heir to the throne and his wife were unharmed.

The annual Royal Variety Performance, a gala evening attended by members of the royal family, featured the likes of tenor Russell Watson, Australian singer Kylie Minogue, Take That and Cheryl Cole.
