Catherine Zeta-Jones gets CBE

Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas

Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has received a royal seal of approval after being honoured with a CBE this week for services to the film industry and to charity.

The 41-year-old star of The Mask of Zorro received her medal from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace as her husband Michael Douglas, 66, and their children Dylan and Carys watched.

She said of her award: "It means a lot to come home with my family and to be honoured in this way - very emotional, rather nervous I must say, and it was worth (it) to have Michael in good health to be able to enjoy it (with me)."

Born in Swansea, Wales, Zeta-Jones is an Academy Award, Bafta Award and Screen Actors Guild Award winner who has appeared in a number of commercially successful movies throughout her career.

Her body of work includes films such as the musical Chicago, romantic comedy Intolerable Cruelty, crime comedy Ocean's Twelve and more recently Death Defying Acts.
