Royal invite for David and Victoria Beckham

Celebrity couple David and Victoria Beckham will be among dignitaries and senior politicians from around the world who will be attending the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The former Spice Girl and her football star husband are two of the 1,900 guests who received a gold-embossed invitation to the eagerly anticipated event at Westminster Abbey on April 29th.

It is believed the invitation was extended to the couple after Prince William worked with Beckham on England's failed 2018 World Cup bid, which saw them spearhead the campaign in Zurich last year.

More than 1,000 friends and family of the prince and Miss Middleton, around 80 representatives of the prince's charities and members of various royal families will also be present during the wedding.

A senior courtier said: "The couple have made their own decisions about who to invite, with input from the Queen and Prince of Wales."

The Duchess of York is among those who will not attend the event as she has not been invited.
