Ringo Starr will not retire until he can't hold a drum stick

Ringo Starr has no intentions to retire

Ringo Starr, who is known for being the drummer in The Beatles, has revealed that he will not retire unless he cannot hold drum sticks any more.

The 71-year-old told USA Today that he can still enjoy his golden years without giving up his live performances.

He told the publication: "As long as I can hold the sticks, I can play… I want to put a jam band together, where we do a two-minute song and a 40-minute fade like the Grateful Dead.

"I joke that I'll end up in a blues band and play very, very slow."

He also praised his wife of the last 32 years Barbara Bach for keeping him alive by making him give up alcohol decades ago.

Starr came to fame as the drummer in one of the most popular pop bands in English history The Beatles.

He also lent his voice as the narrator of children's show 'Thomas The Tank Engine' and has appeared in several films.

Recently, Starr released his 17th studio album 'Ringo 2012'.
