Sir Paul McCartney to play at Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert

Paul McCartney will perform for the queen.

Sir Paul McCartney is thought to have signed up to play at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert, which will be held in June.

It is thought that the former Beatle has been persuaded to perform for the monarch following a year-long campaign by Take That's Gary Barlow to get McCartney on board.

A source told the Sun that Barlow laid it on thick telling McCartney he was the only man for the job.

McCartney released his latest studio album called 'Kisses on the Bottom' on 6 February and has been undertaking an 11-date tour since November 2011 to promote the new record.

The 69-year-old explained the reasoning behind the title of  his new album: "I like mischief. It's good for the soul, it's always a good idea - if only because people think it's a bad idea."

Other stars that have signed up to perform at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert include Sir Tom Jones, Dame Shirley Bassey, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran and boy band JLS.
