Awards galore for Colin Firth and company

The King's Speech

Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter and Colin Firth have had another successful night after each walked away with a gong from the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony.

Colin Firth moved a step closer to his Academy Award dream after winning the best actor award for his portrayal of a stammering King George VI in The King's Speech.

Mr Firth's recognition came following his recent success at the Golden Globes and the Critics' Choice Movie Awards.

His co-stars basked in glory as an Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture gong was awarded to The King's Speech over rivals Black Swan, The Fighter, The Social Network and The Kids Are All Right.

Meanwhile, director Tom Hooper is also widely tipped for Oscar glory after The King's Speech scooped the Producers Guild of America and the Directors Guild of America accolades.

With the Baftas set to take place on February 13th, Firth and company could scoop yet more awards before the Oscars arrive on February 27th.
