Beyonce opens up about birth of Blue Ivy for first time

Beyonce Knowles has given her first interview since giving birth to her first child with Jay-Z, Blue Ivy Carter on 7 January.

She told Star magazine that her husband will be on hand to change nappies as he is a protective father.

The 'Love on Top' singer also defended the amount of security in place at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, claiming it was needed to protect her newborn.

Beyonce told the magazine about her rapper husband: "He is not only an inspirational artist, he is an inspirational husband. I know the next step on his journey is going to be being an inspirational father.

"He will change diapers, of course he will. He is going to be a very hands-on father. He has already said publicly that providing isn't love."

She added that Blue will have a normal family life as the couple will be putting her first.

They are also a normal family that just happen to be in the public eye, she said.
