George Lucas to retire from making films

George Lucas plans to retire.

Film producer George Lucas has stated he will be retiring from filmmaking and will never make another 'Star Wars' film.

He told the New York Times: "I'm retiring. I'm moving away from the business, from the company, from all this kind of stuff."

Lucas's long-time producing partner Rick McCallum revealed that Lucas has done everything he has wanted to do.

On 'Star Wars', Lucas told the newspaper: "Why would I make any more, when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are."

However, the 65-year-old has left himself an 'out clause' so that he can produce a fifth film in the 'Indiana Jones' series with Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford.

Lucas set up his own film production company LucasFilms in 1973 and wrote and directed his break-out film 'American Graffiti' in the same year.

He wrote, directed and produced 'Star Wars', which was released in 1975 and smashed box office records, making it one of the most successful films of all time.
