Leonardo Di Caprio aiming for Oscar for J Edgar

Di Caprio hopes to win an Oscar for his latest role.

Leonardo Di Caprio has revealed that he would be disappointed if he does not win an Oscar for his latest film 'J Edgar'.

Di Caprio plays the famed FBI director J Edgar Hoover in the Clint Eastwood-directed film, which is released in the UK on 20 January.

The 37-year-old has been nominated for a Oscar three times before and he hopes he doesn't miss out again.

He told the Mirror: "I don't think anyone would say that they wouldn't want one. I think they would be lying.

"I have learned from my experiences in this industry that there is absolutely no way to control people's opinions on your performance in your movie."

The 'Inception' star added that portraying Hoover as he was ageing was a challenge that gave the actor an adrenaline rush.

Di Caprio also had to gain weight for the film, which he has previously described as "claustrophobic".

As well as 'J Edgar', Di Caprio will be starring in Martin Scorsese's biopic about Frank Sinatra – 'Sinatra' in 2012.
