Boyzone member Ronan Keating looks set to become the latest pop star to make the transition from stage to screen.

Speaking on 2Day FM's Kyle and Jackie O Show, the 34-year-old revealed that he is due to start filming in Sydney next month.

"I'm coming down on April 7th, because I'm shooting my first movie in Australia. I just gave you a world exclusive actually," the singer said.

"I can't tell you the title but I'm going to be on-set on April 10th in Sydney. It's an Australian movie... I'm very excited."

The singer spent time in Australia before Christmas as part of the judging panel on the country's version of the X Factor.

His Boyzone bandmate Keith Duffy has already made a name for himself as an actor, taking on roles in Coronation Street and Irish soap Fair City.

He also featured in Irish comedy Mrs Brown.
