Superman franchise 'needs to be fixed'

Superman

The superman film franchise needs new life breathing into it, according to director Zack Snyder.

In an interview with Hollywood Outbreak, he said: "I think Superman is broken and needs to be fixed, from a movie stand point. He is the biggest superhero on the planet - the father of every superhero."

Snyder is set to begin shooting Superman: Man of Steel later this year.

Commenting on the movie's star Henry Cavill, he said: "I think the thing Henry has other than being a good looking guy... he's a man, which I like.

"He also has this little teeny bit of innocence, a teeny bit of kindness to him which I feel like is important to his character. Just enough where he's not soft, but you could imagine him being kind. I think that's a good quality."

Speaking to Los Angeles Times earlier this month, Snyder said the new Superman movie will follow a similar template to the 2005 movie Batman Begins.

He added that the film will not have any connection to the previous instalments in the franchise.
