World's fattest man eager to lose weight

The world's fattest man is trying to lose weight.

The world's fattest man at 58 stone has revealed that he is eager to lose weight and is on a diet of just 1,500 calories a day.

Keith Martin last left his home on 11 September 2001 and now wants to lower his weight and reduce his six foot waistline, reports the Daily Mail.

The 42-year-old states that his weight has driven him to contemplate suicide so he is now restricting his diet to 1,500 calories a day.

At the height of his weight gain, Mr Martin was consuming 20,000 calories a day eating packets of bacon, sausages, eggs, pizzas, curries, biscuits and Coca-Cola.

He has already lost 10cm of his girth and is quoted as saying: "'It's been a tough process, but I've been trying to stick to my new diet regime.

"Finding out that I'm the fattest man in the world has been the wake-up call I needed. I don't blame anyone other than myself for this horrible situation."

Mr Martin added he needs to lose half his body weight before he will be given a gastric band.
