Prince William to wed Kate on April 29th

Prince William and Kate Middleton

Prince William has revealed that he will marry his fiancee Kate Middleton on Friday April 29th at Westminster Abbey where several of his predecessors have exchanged vows.

The nation will have an extra bank holiday to celebrate the occasion, which is expected to attract visitors to London, as well as capture the attention of TV audiences around the world.

A statement on his father the Prince of Wales' website said: "The royal family will pay for the wedding, following the precedents set by the marriages of the Prince and Princess of Wales in 1981 and Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip in 1947."

However, the security bill will be met by the state and Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Prince William's private secretary, revealed that the couple are happy with the arrangements so far.

He said: "The couple are completely over the moon. I have never seen two happier people. They are on cloud nine."
