Doris Day single inducted in USA Grammy Hall of Fame

Doris Day has been inducted into the USA Grammy Hall of Fame.

US actress and singer Doris Day was inducted into the USA Grammy Hall of Fame on 22 November for her single 'Que Sera, Sera (Whatever will be will be)' (1956).

Day was born in 1924 and became a popular choice for the female lead in films during the 1950s and 1960s due to her vocal talents.

She starred in musicals such as 'Calamity Jane', 'April in Paris' and 'Lucky Me', before branching into dramatic film when she appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Man Who Knew Too Much' in the mid-1950s.

The USA Grammy Hall of Fame, which was established in 1973 to honour recordings of 'historical significance', also enrolled Bruce Springsteen's album 'Born in the USA' from 1984.

Other albums that were inducted include 'I Started out as a Child' by Bill Crosby from 1964 and 'Exile on Main Street' by the Rolling Stones.

Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive' from 1978 was also selected as a USA Grammy Hall of Fame entry under the singles category.
