Hugh Grant becomes father for first time

British actor Hugh Grant has become a father for the first time at the age of 51, following a fleeting love affair with Chinese actress Tinglan Hong.

The baby, who is a girl, is now five weeks old and the actor is believed to not have attended the birth but did spend some time with his first child the following day.

Carrie Gordon, the actor's representative, told E! News,"I can confirm that Hugh Grant is the delighted father of a baby girl.

"He and the mother had a fleeting affair and while this was not planned, Hugh could not be happier or more supportive. He and the mother have discussed everything and are on very friendly terms."

The couple started dating in January but are no longer together.

Grant is perhaps best known for his roles in 'Four Weddings and a Funeral', 'About a Boy' and 'Love Actually'.

In 2012, he will lend his voice to Aardman's 'The Pirates! Band of Misfits'.
