Coldplay don't measure 'success' by album sales

Album sales are meaningless in terms of measuring success to English rock band Coldplay.
Drummer Will Champion told Digital Spy that the group gains a sense of achievement from the work they put into their records rather than sales.
He said: "We've learnt now - especially given the climate - not to think about it too much. The sense of achievement we get comes from knowing we've tried to make the best record possible."
Champion added that that is the only real measure these days as the time of selling tens of millions of copies have gone, even if subconsciously they will still keep an eye on sales.
Coldplay also have no plans to stop working in the near future, especially as they have just announced a three-date tour in December 2011.
The band met when they were all studying at University College London and released their first single 'Yellow' in 1999, which went straight to number four in the UK charts.
'Parachutes' followed a few weeks later and the band's debut album went to number one.
