Meet the Models

Angie is 5’ 9” and 52 yrs old. She had a very unhappy childhood after being split from her brother at six years old and as a result suffered a low self esteem.

Angie started her career in Hairdressing at the age of 13 and by 18 she was running her own business. She sold her last business five years ago and now works freelance, as well as helping to run a property business with her partner. Angie also loves and collects contemporary art.

Angie married at 22, but it didn't last and after another nine years with someone else realised that she was looking for something else in her life.

Then 14 years ago she met her currant partner Chris. He has completely changed her life with his encouragement and love, and she has managed to overcome her difficult past.

Angie now feels after raising her three children, now aged 18, 21 and 27, that it is time to do something for herself. She would love a career in TV presenting and mature modelling.
 

5' 8" Christine, 47, from Warrington, has suffered from confidence issues for years and used to be three stone overweight. She writes and sings her own songs but has never been brave enough to pluck up the courage and 'do something about it'.

Kitchen Sink to Catwalk is an opportunity for her to take charge of her life and turn it around.

Christine has been married twice and has two children. Back in her twenties, she modelled in Liverpool and even did a stint for 'Page 3' of The Sun. but gave it up when she got married and had her first child.

Christine gained weight while going through a difficult time in her life, but she was determined to lose it and went on to shred three stone. She’s successfully kept her weight down and now runs a weight loss clinic, a job that she loves.

Christine is hoping that taking part in Kitchen Sink to Catwalk will be a life changing experience.

Jazmine, 44 and 5’ 10’’, is from West London but grew up in India. For the last few years she has lived alone in London and is looking forward to sharing a house with the other finalists.

The youngest of three children, Jazmine comes from a conservative Indian family, whose primary aim for her when she was growing up was to marry and settle down.

At the age of 23 Jazmine agreed to marry an Indian man who lived in Canada, after their families arranged for them to meet whilst he was visiting India. Sadly the marriage did not work out, but it did open up a life for Jazmine outside of India. She found a job in New York and lived there for 10 years before moving to the UK.

Jazmine tried modelling at the age of 27 but didn't enjoy it and now wishes that she had given it a proper chance. She wants to show other women that you can do whatever you desire, at whatever age and not be held back by your background.
 

This 5' 7", 46 year old mother of two boys is no stranger to the limelight, having been a model previously. Dressed as a clown in the Embassy Night Club, Karen was spotted by a Models 1 scout when she was 19 and went on to do various hair and beauty campaigns including for Mary Quant.

After meeting her partner, she gave up modelling and started her own design and marketing company, fighting the stigma attached to being a woman in a man’s world and proving that she did have a brain! This was an incredibly fulfilling time as she was able to use all her talents as a stylist, designer and art director. Karen and her partner later decided to move out of London to the country where they had two boys.

Karen found it increasingly hard to juggle motherhood and a career and eventually let the business go as she wanted to spend more time bringing up her young sons. However, she felt rather isolated during these toddler caring years.

For several years Karen refurbished property as it fitted in well with school runs as the boys grew older, although with the downturn in the market she then had to find alternative work. Having split from her partner of 23 years last year, she has become resourceful and been doing recycling evenings where re re-styles women’s wardrobes and does part-time work as a human mannequin! Now is a perfect time for her to boost her confidence and explore the new opportunities that Kitchen Sink to Catwalk may have to offer.
 

At 53, Micki is the oldest of the models. She is 5’ 10’’, in a happy relationship and is looking for a challenge.

Micki grew up in Georgia and moved to the UK eleven years ago after meeting her current husband, Steve, on the internet and falling madly in love. She has been married twice and has a son, who is a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force and two step sons and two grandchildren with her current husband.

Micki had never considered modelling until she was approached by a photographer, at age 45, who asked to take her photo for his portfolio. Since then she has been photographed by many photographers for their portfolios.

Micki has never modelled professionally for a major brand or label, but would love to. She definitely flies the flag for women of a certain age and believes that it doesn’t matter how old you are – you can still be beautiful and model.
 

Samantha is 44 years old and 5’ 8”. She’s mum to a grown up son and she’s recently lost her job. She sees Kitchen Sink to Catwalk as an exciting opportunity.

Samantha is from Surrey and comes from a successful family; her father was a session musician and her mother was a dancer.

Samantha modelled at the age of 18 for Take2 but suffered from a lack of confidence and didn’t enjoy it very much. She had her son when she was 20 and later when he started school she started working in radio. Samantha worked as a DJ on the breakfast show in Kent and Sussex before making the move to Capital Gold (now Gold) where she worked until last year.

Samantha is single and is keen to start a new career and build a new life for herself.
